Wiltshire Wildlife Trust: Wiltshire & Swindon Food Champions

Food Champions is an innovative, three-year project in Wiltshire and Swindon. By teaching basic horticulture, we help local communities to get involved in growing healthy food.

We are currently establishing 12 Community Growing Sites at locations across Wiltshire and Swindon.

We are also working with over 20 new and regenerated Community Orchards, to increase the amount of fruit produce within the county by planting traditional Wiltshire varieties of apple trees.

Through both of these projects we are helping people understand the value of ‘growing their own’ food, which contributes to a healthier lifestyle and builds environmental resilience.

Our Local Food Network will provide opportunities for organisations and businesses involved or interested in sustainable growing to meet and share ideas and best practice.
